‘An airport’s best friend: using dogs for wildlife hazard management’
Jill Brix, Avisure’s Principal Aviation Consultant, was invited to speak at the New Zealand Airports Conference 2019 held in Auckland on the 23-25th October.
Jill presented ‘An airport’s best friend: using dogs for wildlife hazard management’ and also participated in an emergency management panel.
The emergency management panel was chaired by Anil Varma, Manager, Security and Emergency Service, Auckland Airport. Jill spoke on facilitating and attending emergency exercises, and lessons for airports conducting exercises. Tim Morris, Christchurch Airport’s Manager Airfield Operations, gave his insight into managing operations during the recent active armed offender event, and the lessons they learned from other natural disasters. Nicolaas Paterson, Senior Advisor Resilience and Security, Ministry of Transport, provided an overview of NZ’s resilience and security strategic framework, and the national arrangements for responding to significant events affecting the aviation sector. Anil closed the session with a discussion of Auckland Airport’s plan to purchase GSE as a contingency plan for large aircraft incidents.
